What is ECA & SECA?

 Emission Control Area / Sulfur Emission Control Area

THROUGH “JK SHIPPING SERVICE”, PROVIDES ECA PASSING SERVICES AT ONE STOP SERVICE.

Members operating ships over 400GT(Gross Tonnage), trading in designated emission control areas (ECAs), including

yachts, may already be aware of the emission limits introduced designed to reduce the sulphur oxide and nitrogen

oxide emissions of ocean-going vessels. With effect from 1 January 2015, it is a requirement that all fuel oil used on board must have a sulphur content of no more than 0.10% m/m.

The requirements in ECAs, includes the Baltic Sea, North Sea, East and West coasts of the United States and the Caribbean Sea. These regions apply more stringent general requirements from those that apply to other waters. We have been maximizing customer satisfaction by providing total solutions.

In October 2016, the IMO voted on a stricter, global Sulphur oxides limit, which will be implemented in 2020. It is known that Sulphur oxides (SOx) cause many deaths every year. Setting a global Sulphur oxides cap will have a positive effect on the air we breathe and save thousands of lives every year.

Feasibility studies show that there is sufficient supply of required fuel oil and suitable abatement technologies to help all vessels comply with a global legislation. 

 

 

Scrubber

An Open loop scrubber system means that Seawater is utilized as scrubbing water.

It is called an open loop because the water is taken from the sea, led through the scrubber, and then released back into the sea, thus forming an open loop.

 

Not circulated, discharged to the SEA.

 

The term Hybrid is also being used for other products, such as an open loop system where Caustic soda(NaOH) is being added to the water to give the alkalinity already in the seawater an extra boost.

The only thing one can really do to keep track is to ask the supplier to clarify what they mean by hybrid, and what the benefit is of having such a system.

 

This can be operated Open loop mode and Closed mod. In results, The seawater

continuously re-circulated in the system.
